Developing good oral health habits early

As soon as your little one cuts their first tooth, it’s time to start thinking about regular dentist appointments. This is important for maintaining and improving your child’s oral health — plus, it’s a great opportunity to help your child learn good dental habits from a young age!

Our goal is to set the stage for a lifetime of good oral health for your children. Our children's dental team at Eltham and Box Hill will teach your kids how to care for their teeth with special brushing techniques and dietary advice — lollies are a “sometimes food”, after all!

Children’s dental check ups - available at Eltham and Box Hill clinics

Regular dental check-ups for children are important to develop good dental health habits and prevent future dental problems. In fact, we encourage our youngest patients to become familiar with the dental setting from as early as two years old. These examinations are done using a knee-to-knee approach, so they are close to you and comfortable the whole time.

These check ups will:

  • Enable children to become familiar with the dental setting, dental professionals and chair

  • Support early detection of tooth decay or any dental conditions

  • Allow dental professionals to give advice on diet habits and good brushing and flossing techniques

Smile Squad

We are proud to be a part of the Smile Squad — the Victorian Government’s public school dental van service, designed to help families with the cost of dental care and create brighter, healthier smiles for local kids.

All public schools in the area are serviced via our Smile Squad vans, providing free check-ups and treatments to ensure our kids have healthy teeth and gums.

The Smile Squad is an extension of our existing dental services, including our Little Chompers Program, which provides oral health education and check-ups in local primary schools, kindergartens and preschools.
