Celebrating the return of Connect Well Groups

“We’re home!”

Those were the joyful words of a Connect Well Group participant as they entered the activity room at healthAbility for the first time in almost 12 months.

After being suspended in March last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our Social Support Groups have now resumed, much to the delight of participants and staff.

Recently we have been able to welcome people back to several groups, including Older Adult Activity, Dementia Programs, Acquired Brain Injury, and Recreation And Leisure For Fun (RALFF).

Connect Well Group Team Leader Rachel Dunn said it was great to see participants returning and re-connecting with each other.

“We’re thrilled to have our Social Support Groups running onsite again. It’s really heartening to see the positive impact on participants – they’re so happy to be able to re-connect and socialise with each other in person, and we’re excited to have them back!”

With groups resuming, community safety continues to be our priority, and we have a number of health and safety measures in place to ensure groups are facilitated in a COVIDSafe way.
